Hey TD, nice work on the new podcast spot. This is great! I’ll drop you on my iPod and listen tonight.
Thanks for bringing up the problem with Hurdle. Hurdle wants him focused, but you said it, there’s pressure. He needs to find a way to play loose. There’s an old story about Mickey Mantle and Stan Musial (and least I think it was Musial) at an all-star game. They start talking about hitting and Musial ask Mantle about his technical approach: Do you lead with this, do you push here, etc. Mantle said that he had never thought about any of that before. He went into a prolonged slump after that game. My point is this: everyone says Tulo is a gifted, natural athlete. When guys like that think too much, they don’t play well. Buy the guy a playstation for his locker. Tell him jokes before he goes up to the plate. Anything. Just get him loose.
Hey Paul thanks for listening to the podcast. Im a Tulo fan but I wonder if its because he’s a baseball junkie. He is a throw back. But he’s taking the Rockies on his shoulders and he doesnt need to. Good players, even great players, get into slumps but good and great players get out of them. We will have to see if he does.
